I thought the San Gabriel River in Georgetown would be easy enough for Mali so I went home changed clothes and grabbed the pups.

Instead of going through the park like I did last time, I thought we would go the opposite way. It turned out to be a great decision. We saw a couple of different kind of birds and found several spots for the pups to play in the water. Along the way we met a nice couple who were interested in Malibu. I directed them to the Golden Ribbon Rescue site and told them about it and how to go about adopting either Mali or another dog. There was one spot near a small park along the trail that seemed to be a meeting spot for lots of men either hiking, biking or frisbee golfing. There were some beautiful condos maybe that were on top of small cliffs overlooking the river. We ran into a really cute guy who had a lab. The dogs did their meet n' greet. We also saw several deer. It was a good 4.5 mile walk round trip. I would definitely do this one again. Just to be helpful, Kyleigh rolled in the biggest batch of burs she could find.
Next on my one year anniversary agenda I had decided to go to
Painting With A Twist. They were doing a painting of an Italian patio and I thought it would be fun to do. Painting with a Twist is a really cute little place off 183 and Burnett. You supply your own food and wine and they supply a canvas, brushes, paint and instruction for $45. Everyone paints the same thing and they have a calendar on the web of what they will be painting every night. They also do private parties.

I was running a little late but grabbed a bottle at the house when I dropped off the dogs. (Buckey's Cove-a present from my friend Shlom in Colorado) I had not had a chance to eat though. We got started on our paintings. They had given us canvas' with guide lines. We filled in all the darks and lights and then took a break. On break I decided to run and grab a quick bite. I started walking down the strip mall looking for anything I could get as a snack. I happened to stop in a little place called Pars Deli (Mediterranean Cuisine). I could not see the name from where I was standing though, I just walked into the first place that looked like a restaurant. When I first walked in I wasn't sure if I should turn around and find something else. It smelled kind of funny but the man behind the counter was very nice. I am glad I stayed. I didn't want a lot of food because I wanted to go to Trudy's afterward so I got the hummus and pita bread to go. The man behind the counter kept putting all kinds of things in it-there was a sauce and I believe he said he added walnuts. I also got some baklava and went back to the studio. I was very impressed with the hummus. It was amazing. I wanted to go back and tell him it was awesome afterwards but he was closed by the time we were done.
We continued on with the painting. There was a guy in the class who had brought his grandma. Which was sweet but he basically told us he only did the classes to meet women because the odds were pretty good in his favor. It is more fun to do something like this as a group. As an artist I feel this paint by number style of painting is great for people who want to try it and have something impressive to show their friends, but to me the whole thing wasn't exactly boring but pretty close. Granted I now have a lovely painting of an Italian patio to be proud of, but having to listen to everyone in the group trying to be perfectionists and constantly complaining on how theirs didn't look right got old and waiting for people to catch up got old. People you are missing the point. Your painting doesn't have to look perfect it is what you put into it.
I would still do this again though because I do not get the chance to paint and this provides me with some time to set aside and do something for myself-or as Christmas presents :)
