6.15.12 Temporary Addition

I have been speaking with Golden Ribbon Rescue lately about possibly taking in a foster dog. Today is the day that Malibu wiggled her way into our lives. I went to pick her up at the vet around 3 o'clock. She was brought in so she could get all of her shots and get looked at by the vet. When I went in to Forest Creek Vet they were really busy. While I was there I bought heartworm meds for Ky and waited patiently for them to bring her out. I was told the doc wanted to see me for a minute when he was done with his current patient. There was a large dog next to me that wanted to play with everyone, there was a poor mom trying to pay out at the register and her son (around 7) was being kind of obnoxious pulling on their dog and bugging his mom, there was a family with a fat roly poly chihuahua that looked like it wanted to chew someone's face off and then there were various other cats and dogs with their owner's all milling about. It was almost sensory overload for me so I am sure it must have been for the dogs in there.
Finally (and I was on a time crunch because I had to get Malibu settled in and get to work) one of the techs told me that I would have to call back to talk to the doc about Malibu. They said she had some problems with her teeth.

They brought her out and she was an incredibly sweet red Golden Retriever approximately 1 and 1/2 years old. She went right along with me and I got her out to the Jeep. Now when you are used to how one dog reacts to things and then you bring a different one to the equation you need to remember that they are totally different personalities and may act quite differently to things like riding in a car. Luckily I had no problem with Malibu. She jumped right into the front seat and curled up in a ball. We didn't have too far to drive and she did very well. She is a creeper though. She kept slowly trying to creep onto my side of the car. When we got home I introduced her to Ky -who loves everyone - and they got along well enough. Ky wanted to lick her to death and Mali just wanted attention from me.  Later on Malibu, after scarfing down several bowls of food, managed to get comfortable enough on my bed to fall asleep (Another difference between the two because Ky likes to watch TV then sleep in the bathroom.)
