6.19.12 Hidden Gem

Mom called and says "Hey do you want to go have lunch with your sister?" and I respond "of course." I know this means that we might play "where are we going to eat today?" for a few minutes then my sister will come up some cool little Austin hidden treasure of a place that will amaze me. Today was no different. She decides on 34th Street Cafe and Catering. We head toward a bright green building stuck in the midst of a ton of construction. As with most places I have gone to around here at first glance you wouldn't even imagine that such a cute little place would be revealed in this very bright building. But sure enough it is like a small Italian Bistro in side. There was even a wine tasting going on when we stepped inside. It is an Italian concept style dining where you order from a small menu at the counter and then someone brings the food out to you. I ordered the Venison Tuscan Pizza. Jones Ranch Summer sausage venison, goat cheese and roasted red peppers top a very thin crusted pizza. It was pretty amazing. Although I was never really a fan of pizza growing up like every other kid, I have been working at an Italian restaurant with wood fire pizza so I am interested in tasting other creations.
