5.26.12 Hottest Coolest Time

Today Ky stays home as I venture off with some friends to the hottest coolest time in Texas- you guessed it Schlitterbahn  (which means "slippery road" in German) Waterpark. Last time we went we couldn't get it to the main park because it was closed because of the rain. Most of the main park is fed from the Comal river-instead of chlorine water which makes it cold and Awesome! So this time around we got to do the main park. Of course it is Memorial Day weekend which did not work in our favor. One thing about Schlitterbahn, if you come on weekends or high traffic times, you will be waiting in lines long enough that you will be dry by the time you get on the next ride. Luckily we have season passes and so it doesn't feel like we wasted our money. I unfortunately forgot to bring the camera in this time so no pictures. They got a picture of us before we got on the "Whitewater" ride but I still haven't figured out where I need to go to find them. After that one we got on the "Cliffhanger" because it happened to be close. After waiting in line forever we got on. The "Cliffhanger" splits and one part goes down a somewhat steep incline that is bumpy and the other dumps you into a strip of the Comal river. It has been a long time since I worked there and many things have changed a bit so I couldn't remember which split I needed to be on. I got separated from Manny, Angela and Xander and ended up going on the wrong one. I at least knew how to find them when I got out. Last ride for the day was the "Hillside" which takes you through the old tube/locker room and into the lagoon. I forgot how shallow that one is most of the way. While standing in line we met a nice family who had a little girl who was so cute. She was probably 2. At one point she didn't want to put her life jacket back on an through a huge tantrum. After the lagoon everyone jumped in the luke warm hot tub while I stayed where I was. Then we headed out. For lunch we stopped at Rudy's. I had never been there before. It is a BBQ place connected to a gas station. They had a lot of different sodas in glass bottles (except Dr Pepper) when you walk in. We placed our orders and they handed us big black half crate looking things with our food in it to take to our picnic table. The restaurant was interesting. The food was pretty good. I had a BBQ brisket sandwich which was a little too salty but otherwise good. I had grabbed a container of pudding because Angela and I had been talking about that earlier. It was weird tasting and had a lot of whipped cream on it. Not sure if I would order that again but lunch was good and their BBQ sauce was pretty tasty.
