5.30.12 Totally Town Lake

Kyleigh and I left for Town Lake around noon to spend the whole day. I had off that night as well so I was going to stick around and go to Blues on the Green. We started off on the 4.5 mile hike. We took our time. I even saw a live crawfish in Barton Creek when we stopped for Ky to take a swim. It was pretty hot out. When we got to the dog park I decided to swim with Ky. There weren't that many dogs out during the day. There was a Great Dane who rolled Ky through the mud a couple of times. She was good and dirty.  We had a snack break and then walked to the Texas Rowing Center.
I wanted to try kayaking with Ky for the second time. This time I did not bring my phone. I got us both a life jacket and a paddle and we started for the kayak. There was a momma and daddy swan with a baby swimming by the dock. One of the swans came after Ky when we reached the edge of the dock hissing and spitting. With a little help from the Kayak workers we both made it in the boat. Once again we didn't get very far from the dock but Ky did a whole lot better. I really want to get my own kayak but I want her to feel safe in one first. She lasted a lot longer but like last time she had enough and decided to jump in the water. Well since I knew what this was going to lead to, I paddled back to the dock. She swam alongside the kayak and when we got to the dock I had help getting her out. We made it!!

After kayaking we headed back to the Jeep to take a break. Ky chewed on a stick, I had another snack. We were under the mopac bridge so we had shade and a breeze. Liz was going to join us but something came up. Ky and I started toward Zilker for Blues on the Green. We found us a nice spot close to the stage but not too close. Angela and Xander soon showed up. Angela left to go get us some Chuy's for dinner. I love Chuy's. Manny showed up. Him and Ky had a lot of fun. At one point I set up Ky with my phone and took a picture of her and Xander both "playing" video games. I bought glow sticks for everyone. We were listening to Charlie Mars who was actually pretty good.
