Ky and I headed out early to Townlake and we actually made it this time! There wasn't much going on. We parked the Jeep and headed out on our 4 mile hike. Townlake (aka Lady Bird Lake) is a river that is damned on both ends to form a lake that looks like a river in downtown Austin. It is a great place to walk, run, take your dog or your kids. Zilker Park is next to it as well. It is also a great place for people watching. There are a lot of great flowers along the path.
Ky and I stopped at Barton Creek so she could take a dip and cool off. Then off to Auditorium Shores dog park. This one is not fenced but has several levels to it in the main off leash dog part. Kyleigh likes playing in the water so she doesn't get very far. There are normally a few dogs around for her to play with. Today she met Bruce a red golden retriever. Bruce's owner seemed to be more interested in hanging out in the shade than playing with his dog so I took the liberty and threw Bruce's ball into the water for him. Kyleigh went after her ball -Bruce went after his ball. Eventually Bruce got bored with his ball and started snatching Ky's (His was a tennis ball and hers was more like a ball with rubber spikes). He was very intent on it and in that way retrievers have of "accidentally" destroying things, he made short work of Ky's ball. We spent quite awhile there so she would burn some of her energy. Unfortunately the walk back was long and hot.
