1.10.14 King George

My mom won tickets from the radio station to go see George Strait. So for Christmas guess what I got??? I got the other ticket!! Thank you mom!

So we met up at my house. I wanted to go to Fogo de Chao for dinner but Angela told me it was more of a sit down and enjoy the experience type of place and not a grab a bite before the concert type of place. So we went to Flemings. Although I know several people who work there, I had never been there before. I heard Happy Hour was pretty good. We found a bar top. It was quite cozy in there. I would like to stop in again sometime and actually have steak. We started with drinks and a calamari in a sweet chili sauce. It was very tasty. Next one of my friends brought over some shrimp and fried green beans. Also delicious. Then we had burgers off the happy hour menu. I have to say it was definitely worth it.

Afterwards we headed to the Frank Erwin Center. I thought the Erwin center would have parking like any other event center. I was wrong. We hit awful traffic trying to find a place to park and then had to come back around and park several blocks away. I didn't have a problem walking but I wish I would have known ahead of time. Next time I will know either to go early or park farther away.
We had a hard time finding our seats. The usher pointed us in the wrong direction. The concert had already started so we were kind of in the way for a little bit. Finally we got settled in our seats. Jason Aldean was playing. I grabbed mom a beer and myself a tall margarita and we settled in for the show. During the intermission we tried many times to get a picture of ourselves but finally had to ask the people behind us to take it.
George was great! Mom and I sang along. At some point this teenage couple decided to sit in the same seat next to me which made things a bit crowded. Otherwise it was a wonderful time. Afterwards I took mom back downtown to one of my favorite bars where we met up with some of my friends. Then we all went to the Hangar bar for a while.
We had a really great night!
