1.31.14 And then there was none (well almost)

We hit the Greenbelt again. There is only water at the beginning of where we walked. I was hoping there was at least some water in Gus Fuhr(The pic of Ky on the 18 was taken here in some water) but it was bone dry. Poor Ky had to wait til we got back to where we started to get a drink.

1.24.14 Architects of Air

I offered to babysit Isaac. This is the first time I have babysat him since I moved here.  I am normally too busy with work and school but I actually had time. I came by to pick him up and we went to go see the Architects of Air museum exhibit. It looked a lot like a bouncy house but we were informed that it most definitely was not. Isaac really liked it. The lighting was supposed to be like the light from stained glass. Isaac thought it was like being in a tent. He kept laying down and pretending to sleep. Then he took my camera for a while and took a bunch of interesting pictures. It took a good thirty minutes for him to get bored. I was given a warning that he wasn't allowed to run and then he decided he was a monkey. That was about the time I decided we should leave. It took some persuading but I got him to go. We walked around outside the Palmer Event Center and I got a really great photo of him. We then went and got Froyo at my favorite locally owned yogurt place - D'Lites.
Luckily by the time we got back he was ready for a nap :) I did great for my first day babysitting!

1.18.14 You Only Turn 4 Once

Isaac's birthday party this yer was at the new Austin Aquarium. I actually remembered to ask off for it. I headed over there a little early but stopped in at Walgreens to pick up a few extra gifts. I was unimpressed with the outside of the Aquarium. Maybe it is because I have been to the one in Denver and the one in Corpus. This one is located in a shopping center next to a restaurant that serves Kobe steaks. I realize they just got it up and going but the whole thing was a little amateurish. I was sent to the back of a warehouse type place with a bunch of aquariums in it. But enough about that. It was Issac's birthday. Mom brought an awesome Despicable Me cake. Kelly's friends all showed up. We did a tour of the aquarium. It was for 3 four year olds so it was a bit quick. They had a tank where you could touch stingrays and one where you could touch sharks. There was a large octopus and a large iguana, some birds in a small aviary, a turtle, some crocodiles. It was a little sad. The biggest hit was the children's play area and slide and the tornado booth. We had pizza and cake and Isaac opened presents. It was a fun day. At the end as we were leaving Isaac got some rocks as a souvenir. He let me have a pretty small purple one.

1.18.14 And the water slowly fades

We went back to the greenbelt to see if we could get further today. It looks as if the water is already receding at a steady pace.We accidentally ended up in the sectioned off part of the trail where there are falling rock signs. This was the huge chunk of rock that was split in half from falling. It doesn't look too bad in the picture but it was pretty big. I would hate it if that had fallen on my head.
